Stained Concrete Patio Overlay Installation and Pool Deck Addition in Tucson, AZ by Arizona Concrete Designs, LLC

www.arizonaconcretedesigns.com  – New Stained Concrete Overlay and Pool Deck Addition Gives This Backyard a Brand New Look

On this project, the client had a large back patio and had recently added a concrete area to their pool deck that they wanted finished to match the existing pool deck.  They wanted the patio to have a different finish than the pool deck, so we installed to different products for the customer.  For the pool deck area, we installed a sprayed-on concrete overlay that matched the look of their existing pool deck, and then we put a protective, colored sealer on both the newly installed overlay and the existing pool deck so the colors would match and the sealer would protect the entire pool deck.  For the patio area, we installed a textured concrete overlay, which we then put a water-based and environmentally safe blend of brown shades of color on.  After this dried, we applied a clear sealer on the patio to protect the finish.  The final result we beautiful, with the two different finishes providing visual interest in the backyard and protection for their concrete surfaces.  For more information or to schedule a free estimate, visit our website at www.arizonaconcretedesigns.com or give us a call at 520-338-7503.

Basketball Court Concrete Overlay Install for Delta Tau Delta Fraternity at the University of Arizona in Tucson – By Arizona Concrete Designs, LLC

We just finished up a concrete overlay of an entire basketball half court for the Delta Tau Delta fraternity at the University of Arizona.  After prepping the concrete, we started out by putting down a coat of white concrete where the lines would go and them and then taped out and covered the lines themselves.  Then we installed the base purple and yellow colors with a concrete overlay skim coat.  After that, we sprayed the purple texture coat on to make a non-slip surface.   We installed a concrete-grade vinyl decal next, and then covered it up and sprayed the texture coat on the yellow portion.  Then we removed the tape covering the decal and the white lines and sealed everything, adding a non-slip additive to the sealer that went over the vinyl decal.

This job was challenging, but a lot of fun!  The fraternity members that we spoke to all loved the finished product and we have to admit, we were pretty excited ourselves about the way it turned out!

www.arizonaconcretedesigns.com  On this project, we installed a textured concrete overlay on the homeowners’ open and covered patios. We stained the overlay with water-based medium and dark shades of brown, and then put a UV-resistant sealer on top so it won’t fade.  The homeowner asked for a different pattern and color on the step so it would stand out and reduce the trip hazard, so we put a light stone look pattern on the step and added the same look at the entry gate threshold to pull it all together.  What an improvement over bare concrete!!

For this project, the customer had an existing overlay that had faded over the years.  So, we put down a new overlay to look like flagstone in a reddish orange finish.  We put a UV-resistant sealer on top, so this overlay won’t fade like the original one did.  In fact, there is a ten year warranty on this product that covers fading!

Tile Concrete Overlay Floors in Tucson, AZ – White Base with Shades of Brown Highlights

This project is a tile-look overlay that I did at my own house.  There’s actually real tile underneath some of the areas, including the entryway and

hallway.  We did it this way to show that our overlay system is strong enough to hold up even on top of *loose* tile – but don’t worry, we’ll remove any of your loose tile before doing a similar install!

We got this look by putting down a layer of white concrete overlay, taping the “grout” lines, and then laying another white coat on top, which we then sponged color onto to get the finish you see in the picture.  After that, we pulled the tape to reveal the white “grout” lines, then sealed everything – so those “grout” lines will always stay nice and white – something that’s almost impossible with real tile!
We applied a concrete border between the two types of conrete overlays we applied – the tile look, which we put in the kitchen, dining room and bathrooms, and the flagstone finish we we put int he living room, den and bedrooms.  We applied a chocolate coloe to the border area and added a metallic copper finish to the top, which gave it a really nice unique, kind of rustic look.
Here is our entryway, which is fully tiles underneath the concrete overlay:

Decorative Concrete Flooring Overlay Project in Tucson, AZ – 18″ Tile Look in Tan and Gray in Arizona Room

Arizona Room with Decorative Concrete Flooring Overlay

Arizona Room with Decorative Concrete Flooring Overlay

With this project, the customer was looking for a decorative concrete overlay in a tile look with some texture, but no so much that it was hard to clean.  She had indoor-outdoor carpet on the floor that had started to hold some pet odors and she was looking for a long-term solution that would also enhance the look of her Arizona Room. The first thing we did was to remove the carpet and grind the glue off of the concrete floor.  After prepping the floor, we put down the skim coat in a light oxford gray, which will be the grout line colors.  Then we taped off the grout lines with 1/4″ tape and sprayed down the second coat in sandstone.  After that, we added two highlight colors by spraying them on as well.  The tape was then pulled, revealing the grout lines.  Finally, we sealed the concrete overlay with a clear epoxy and put a coat of UV-protectant sealer on top so the colors won’t fade.

As always, another happy customer!
